The Partner DEMS body camera software itself is very light with regards to system requirements and will work on most relatively new windows desktops or laptops. It is strongly recommended that you install the DEMS on a computer that has a significant amount of storage as you will be downloading all of your cameras to its hard drive.
A locally-installed solution simply means that it is installed on a physical computer that is local to you and that the body worn video footage is stored there as well. This is in contrast to a cloud-based solution which means that the software and the footage is stored elsewhere, normally a data centre. Cloud solutions tend to have ongoing fees such as licensing and cloud storage where as local installs will be one off costs.
The Partner DEMS body camera software does not require access to any network or internet connection via WIFI, Cell Data or cable. The DEMS is completely self-contained and can be isolated from other devices in a control room without affecting functionality. This is particularly useful if you do not wish to involve IT departments on-site.
There are two primary methods of downloading body worn video footage from The Partner MK4 to the DEMS software. You can either use a solo dock or a 10-port multi-dock. Simply assign the ports to your chosen hardware and then when anyone puts a camera into the dock, it will automatically begin downloading so long as the DEMS is running.
All The Partner MK4s come with a solo dock as a standard accessory. If you are running several cameras off of a single PC and do not have enough ports to download/charge them simultaneously then you can purchase a 10-port multi dock separately. The multi-dock comes with a free DEMS license.
The Partner DEMS body camera allows you to create user profiles for individuals who will be utilising the system. These profiles have permission levels which can be adjusted to match their role within the site’s SOP. Each user profile has their own username and password.
The DEMS player allows users to watch any bwv camera footage that has been downloaded to the software. It has the ability to view encrypted footage without first requiring that it be decrypted which makes the whole process seamless. The player allows you to pause and move around the footage second by second to get a clear image of suspects.
No, The Partner Dems can only be used with The Partner MK4 Body Camera. Trying to use other cameras may cause damage to the devices and is not recommended.
You only need one license per DEMS installation. The license is a lifetime license and applies to a single instance.
If you need to run multiple instances of The Partner DEMS, you will require multiple licenses. It is always best to run each site off of a single instance as it the keeps body worn video footage stored in a central location.
Yes, it is. Footage is encrypted at the point of recording on The Partner MK4. It is transferred while encrypted to the DEMS where it is stored as an encrypted file. The only way to unencrypt it would be through the “export” function that will generate an unencrypted copy of the file. This can then be given to police or whomever needs it. Most decent media players such as VLC will then be able to play it.
No, The Partner DEMS body camera software is a windows only application and is incompatible with other operating systems. This also means that The Partner MK4 Body Cameras can only be used with a PC and not a Chromebook or MAC.
